The philly project

partnering with the local church, serving the most vulnerable neighbors, and providing transformative service opportunities.

July 26 - August 2

summer of service

This summer our students will be heading to The Philadelphia Project Summer of Service, a week-long opportunity to serve communities in the Philadelphia area through practical projects such as home repairs, neighborhood outreach, and ministry to local residents.

The week also includes worship, teaching, and time together as a youth group as students grow in their faith while serving others. While we are there, students will be staying together in housing on an old college campus, which is part of the Philadelphia Project experience.

JULY 26 - AUGUST 2

Before the service portion of the trip begins, we will spend Sunday and Monday enjoying some group time at the water park at Great Wolf Lodge. On Monday afternoon, we will head into Philadelphia to begin our Summer of Service week.

Throughout the week, students will serve in a variety of ways in the city. At the end of the week on Saturday, we will participate in a community outreach event hosted on The Philadelphia Project’s campus, serving local families and neighbors. We will then head home on Sunday.

ministry opportunities

During the week, students will be placed in different ministry areas where they will have the opportunity to serve in meaningful and hands-on ways.

Church Ministry: Students will partner with local churches to serve their communities. This may include evangelism, helping with projects for church members, or connecting with people in the neighborhood for upcoming events.

Construction Ministry: Students will work on projects in homes and churches. This could include painting, hanging drywall, building walls, or helping clean up and prepare spaces.

Kids Ministry: Students will serve at local kids camps, working with a specific age group throughout the week and building relationships through games, activities, and teaching.

Mercy Ministry: Students will serve alongside local organizations that care for the city. This may include helping at food banks, serving meals, or assisting at homeless shelters.

Stenton Family Manor: Students will spend the week serving families at a local shelter, building relationships with children through activities like games, reading, crafts, and more. This is a very relational ministry where students will form meaningful connections.

Trip Cost

The total cost of the trip is $850 per student.

because of our youth group fundraising efforts, the church will cover $400 per student - therefore each student is responsible for $450.

Students who sign up for the trip will be expected to participate in the fundraisers that make this possible. Students can cover their $450 in several ways:

  • Asking friends and family for donations or support

  • Writing and sending support letters to friends and family

  • Setting up a personal fundraising page and sharing it with supporters

  • Doing small jobs (yard work, babysitting, etc.)

  • Paying the remaining amount out of pocket

Students should also plan to bring money for three meals while we travel, as well as additional spending money for the trip.
