What to Expect

We know it's not always easy visiting a church for the first time.  Many questions may come to mind in anticipation of attending a Sunday morning service.  We want you to be as comfortable and well-informed as possible for your first visit to Calvary Church.

The church "tour" on the right will acquaint you with where to go when you arrive.  Note that services are held in the Family Life Center behind the church sanctuary pictured.

FAQ

What should I wear?
Believing that God looks at the heart, not at our clothes, you should wear whatever is comfortable for you. You will find some people dressed in "Sunday best" while others come in jeans or shorts.

Where do I park?
When you drive into the parking lot just off White Plains Road, you will find reserved "Visitor Parking" spaces in the first and second rows. Worship services take place in the Family Life Center, not in the building with the steeple.

Will I be conspicuous?
That is up to you. We have a Welcome Team who is ready to give you any information you may need. BUT if you would rather go unnoticed, just walk by the booth in the lobby straight ahead into the main auditorium. There may be a very short time to greet each other during the service, but no one is singled out.

What are the people like?
They are like you.  They have dreams and struggles, just like you.  They have questions about the meaning of life and are looking for answers.  We don't have all the answers, but we can help you on your journey to find them.

What about my kids? Is there a safe place for my kids to have fun?
Our Children's Ministries provides a safe environment for your infant through three-year-olds in one of our four nurseries. You will find the check-in to your right, as you enter the lobby. One of the nursery directors will ask you to fill out a card and will attach a numbered tag to your child’s back. You will be given a bracelet with the same number. If your child needs you, your number will be flashed on small boxes in the corner of the auditorium. The same bracelet must be returned to pick up your child.

What are the Worship Services like?
Each Sunday we celebrate through diversity! The 8:30 worship service is blended in structure and employs a variety of instrumentation, regularly including organ, piano, choir, orchestral instruments and worship band. The 11:00 worship service is celebratory in structure and led by a vocal team and worship band.

Will they ask me for money?
At Calvary Church we do not ask our guests for money. The worship service is our gift to you. Whether you put something into the offering plate is up to you.

Is there a place for me at Calvary Church?
Only you can make that decision, but we are here to help you.  Contact anyone on staff by email for more information or ask one of the greeters at the information booth.

Will I still be welcome if I don’t believe the same things?
You will be welcome no matter what you believe. We are all on a life journey and want to encourage each other as we travel together. It is our hope that you will find a true relationship with God through Jesus Christ. This is the place to ask questions, to get to know what the Bible says, to meet followers of Jesus.

What if Calvary Church is not for me?
If you find that Calvary Church is not the place for you, our prayer is that you will find the right church connection. While you will always be welcome here, we will be happy to give you some suggestions of other churches in the area, so please don't hesitate to ask us.
